[…] Krolikowska, who has long dark hair, was supposed to have been helped by a Polish interpreter but this did not happen because the interpreter was not available until later in the morning.

Her barrister, Lisa Hardy, said that this was not a problem because Krolikowska's English had improved while she had been in custody and she would be able to follow the proceedings. […]

Mrs Hardy added that paperwork in the case was in the process of being translated into Polish for Krolikowska.

The case against an Iraqi national who faces kidnapping, robbery and burglary allegations in the Newport area, stalled following a failure to find him an interpreter. […]

Judge criticises court translation service

A judge has criticised a court translation service - after a case had to be adjourned because a Romanian interpreter failed to attend.

Judge David Pugh complained that he had been forced to adjourn a number of cases because translators had not turned up to hearings at Ipswich Crown Court.

Prosecutor David Wilson said it was not the first time it had happened in this particular case.

Judge Pugh adjourned the case of Dudel Pitigoi to July 16 and said: “I will stress the importance of ensuring an interpreter will turn up."[…]
