Before 2012, courts arranged interpreter contracts
on an individual basis. The Government has taken steps to ensure the system
provides value for taxpayers by agreeing a national contract. Demand for these
services has grown as awareness increases amongst court and tribunal users.
Since we introduced a new interpreting contract in 2012 we have spent £38.2m
less on language service fees.
