Thug who battered woman has sentence postponed - after interpreter fails to turn up at court
A thug who punched a woman unconscious had his sentence postponed - because an interpreter failed to turn up at Ayr Sheriff Court.
But vicious Florentin Ilie, 45, remains in custody, and is likely to be given a hefty jail sentence when he returns to court on August 6.
Ironically, Ilie seemed to understand what Sheriff John Montgomery was saying to him.
The sheriff asked Ilie’s solicitor, Marisa Borland: “Are you sure an interpreter is required?”
Ms Borland replied: “I am - given the likely disposal.”
Sheriff Montgomery then said: “I very much doubt if an interpreter is actually required, but we will follow the protocol.”
The date of Tuesday, August 6 was duly arranged, with Ilie to remain in custody. […]
