Drink driver shouted at police in Polish when pulled over in Yeovil
[…] When police pulled over a suspected drink drive and tried to talk to him he responded by shouting at them in Polish.
Janusz Jozefczyk continued to be abusive and when asked to take a breath test at the police station continued with the same behaviour.
When the police asked an interpreter what the defendant was saying they refused to translate them saying they were swear words and did not want to repeat them.

“It pulled into a car par in South Street and when the officers spoke to the defendant he smelt of alcohol and began to shout at them in Polish,” she said.
“He was arrested and taken to Yeovil police station where a breath test was started using an interpreter via the telephone Language Line system.”
As a result of his behaviour the defendant did not provide a satisfactory breath sample and was charged with the offence.
Speaking via an interpreter in court, the defendant said he just panicked at the time and did not understand what was going on. […]
